What about an 80mg Depo-Medrol epidural injection for an HNP of the L-spine? How long should it take to clear my system? I am worried about any steroid exposure to my 8 wk old, esp. since he will be getting vaccines soon. How does excretion in milk compare with an epidural vs. IV injection?

Think of it this way. You can take at least 80 mg orally without a problem in your milk, epidurally it is slower and releases lesser concentrations in the plasma.
So I don't think it would be a problem in a breastfeeding mother at all. If you want to pump and discard the milk for 24 hours, virtually all the rapidly released Medrol would be gone.
But I don't think this is necessary at all. Look up prednisone in my book. Methylprednisolone is only slightly different.
