Description: Carseats, like a lot of other things, expire.
They expire 6 years after the date of manufacture (can be found underneath your carseat). Over time, carseats are usually exposed to extreme heat and/or cold causing the plastic shell to weaken, and making the carseat no longer safe to use. This video shows exactly that. The carseat in this video is 10 years old, 4 years past the expiration date. Watch what happens as the straps literally rip through the plastic, allowing the child dummy to fly out of the seat.v
