I feel that it is extremely important that homeschooling be an option for everyone, regardless of their "qualifications," education, religion, or social role. Despite all the possible negative consequences, I feel it's the only way to protect independent thought, freedom of choice, and a spirit of competing ideas within a society. In that, I probably agree with Roza in some way.

Unfortunately, after reading this bombastic, self-righteous and paranoid post, I can certainly see why some people would question homeschooling. There are clearly some parents who most probably are not the sort who should be teaching anyone.

Ultimately, though, homeschooling is a personal choice made for specific personal situations. In the same way that we cannot or should not responsibly ban certain people from having children and being parents, we should not dictate what or how a parent chooses to teach a child.

I find it sad that this issue of homeschooling--what amounts to an important freedom of speech and choice issue--is often represented by extremely loud lunatics.
