    HiFellow Home edders,

Iam sure you will all be able to relate to my agonyat clearing out my over flowing book shelves. I hate getting rid of books butit has become too ridiculous. So I have a huge amount of books that need a new home. Mainly children’s story books, novels and reference books. Lots of DrWho, Famous Five, Terry Deary, a few adult books. Some workbooks for KS1 and 2,Lots of childrens story books about ponies and horses.

Theywill need to be picked up from house. You will need to bring large crates orsimilar and need a big boot!

Ido not want to have to sort through them as I know I will loose my resolve andkeep most of them (you can tell I have tried to do this before!). So who evertakes them needs to take the whole lot in one go.

Isanyone interested? If not they will go to the charity shop.

Opportunity to attend Thames Explorer Session on Monday

    Session 2 - KS2- Monday 13 December 12.30-2.30 At Chiswick BridgeThames foreshore
2 hours of fieldwork: includes recording simple abiotic data (watertemperature, weather, state of the tide), assessing water quality throughchemical tests and invertebrate sampling, assessing the impact of rubbish onlocal wildlife, plus investigation of river features such as erosion, transportation and deposition.

More of interest and challenge for our older children(KS2), although I'mconfident that the younger ones get a lot out of just being on the shore andexploring as well. Google Thames Explorer Trust for more info, I think theyhave directions on how to get there as well. www.thames-explorer.org.uk

There are still plenty of places available, so please do let us know if you'dlike to come. We went to the first session and it was super.

    Hi everyone,

I am arranging two visits to the Houses of Parliament:

Friday 6 May (including Your Voice workshop)
Friday 20 May (including Making Laws workshop)
    Both at mid day.

They will include a tour of the Palace of Westminster and a workshop (given
    in brackets, above).

Depending on the age of the majority of the children on a particular date,
it will be at KS2/3 level.

These visits are very popular and have very limited availability, because
they are booked up so quickly by schools up and down the country.

They are aimed at school year 3 and above (which is age 7 and over).

They have a policy of NO babies/young children (they have stopped visits
with babies/young children on previous occasions)

Therefore, although I generally like to leave it to parents' discretion over
the capabilities of their home-ed children, on this occasion, I will say no
    under 6s
    on this trip - sorry.

(those of you who know me, will know that this also applies to me, too!)

If you are interested in going on this visit, please email me:

-the full names and ages of your children
-the full name of the parent going (AND their mobile number)
-which date you would like (if you don't give a date, I will slot you in
    myself!)

There is a limit on the numbers of children for this visit (and, unusually,
an upper limit on the number of adults, too)

It will be strictly "first come first served" and in the event of itbeing
    over-subscribed, I will keep a waiting list.

(but before putting your name down, please be absolutely sure it's suitable
for your children, that you can make the date AND that your chil(ren) will
be ok with going on the tour/workshop without a parent).

    Thanks

A ovo je jedna od nasih skola :

The Otherwise Club - a prototype of the kind of school that educationalists predict will educate our children in the future

    http://www.theotherwiseclub.org.uk/

We currently have in the region of forty families who are members of The Otherwise Club, with each family paying membership fees towards the cost of renting premises.

We offer workshops on subjects as varied as:

Stained glass; rock climbing; Shakespearean Drama; Egyptian Pyramid Building and First aid. Pottery and drama are on-going weekly workshops.

As well as regular visits from specialists in areas as diverse as African drumming, Police Dog handling and country dancing, we organise group holidays and excursions, including annual trips to an organic farm, and rock climbing.

The Otherwise Club has been described as:

"...a prototype of the kind of school that educationalists predict will educate our children in the future." (Evening Standard, Jan 1996)

The Otherwise Club provides an invaluable opportunity for families with children out of school to meet regularly, exchange views and offer mutual support. Many friendships are formed, with families often meeting up outside the club. we particularly welcome new families and visitors on the first Thursday of each month.
